ECG is a common diagnostic procedure in checking the heart’s electrical activity.  It is very helpful in excluding serious heart conditions like acute heart attack or cardiac arrthymia.  Unfortunately it is not very sensitive in picking up heart diseases.  That is the false negative result is quite common.

As it is readily available and non interventional, it has become a very useful diagnostic tool to daily medical practice.
